Bob Preston, Sectetary of the DON Club. Eldest of the Preston Clan.
Bob and Dave Forrester started playing golf in 1991, went away twice with a group of "Odd Fellows", they were a little bit timed and frightened by Bob. An invitiation would not be fortcoming for the next trip and it was decided to form our own society.
Bob is neither shy or timid and the first claim to fame came as a result of a pint of "Redstripe" being spilt by a "dickhead".
Bob, earned his nickname "Helicopter" by the sound of a club flying through the air. Sometimes the club would travel further than the ball. In the early days many a club was broken.
Bob was the main organiser for weekends. Arranging booking of courses, buying prizes and allocating handicaps. Last couple of years the work is been shared out. Bob rarely finishes outside the top 3, probably due to that overly competitive nature.
2012 was a very good year winning the DON Club playing sensible golf, 5 wood of the tee. 41 points on the last day in Rosses Point is best round ever.
Champion of the DON Club in 1994, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2007 and 2012
Captains Prize Winner in 1998, 1999 and 2000
